A Little Dirt Never Hurt: FDLIC Participates in the First Annual Mudslinger Fun Run
Wednesday, October 5, 2011
On Saturday, September 10, 2011, the first annual Mudslinger Fun Run took place in Abilene in support of the Abilene Youth Sports Authority (AYSA). As our FDLIC folks are huge supporters of our local youth sports programs, this was an opportunity that we couldn't miss!
The Mudslinger Fun Run, an event for the whole family, featured various obstacles and a 30-foot mud pit before the finish line. The course was approximately three miles long, complete with climbing wall, hurdles, balancing beams, and more.
"I'd like to thank the FDLIC volunteers who helped everything run smoothly the day of the event," said Jon Smith, director of the AYSA. "FDLIC is always one of our biggest supporters, and we are so appreciative of all that they do."
Many FDLIC employees also turned out to run the race and take a turn diving into the mud pit.
All in all, about 1,000 participants came through the course and the Mudslinger Fun Run raised about $15,000 for the AYSA. It was a great event, and we are already looking forward to more mud and more fun next year!
