As you enter our headquarters in Abilene, Texas, you are greeted by our statement of purpose: "To Be the Best, Most-Respected Provider of Service to the Funeral Industry," and below it, you will see a carving of Jesus washing the feet of one of his disciples with the inscription, "For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted," Luke 14:11.
This verse serves to remind us that we are here for a greater purpose than simply making a living. We are here to fulfill a calling to serve one another just as Jesus himself came to serve. Our calling is expressed in the way we treat one another as family, in the way we serve our clients and customers with excellence, and in the way we care for our policyholders and their families with consideration and compassion. This same calling to serve is also expressed in a generous spirit of volunteerism among our employees, who truly are "Helpers of People."
